Baby Wood Update- Week 25

This week I actually slept at night but I was incredibly tired during the day. Each day seemed to blend together and was busy. Stress of work is the worst and definitely not my favorite place to be. The best part of my week was seeing the baby kick on the outside. She is a mover and a shaker!!

We bought the paint this weekend for our girl's room and Nick is in the process of painting. I can't believe it!! A little while after we found out we were expecting I made a checklist. It was shocking to see how much needed to be done in so little time. We have really been knocking things out.

This week heartburn has been ruling my life. I thought it was bad in the first trimester but it seriously feels like I am going to explode with fire. I have tried Tums but besides drinking lots of water, I suck on peppermint candy during the day and will take a liquid antacid if it gets really bad at night.

Stretch marks? There is a little spot above my belly button that is turning a light purple...but nothing major.

Sleep: I got a pregnancy pillow and it has been a life saver. I am sleeping really well during the night however I do have trouble going to bed because of pain in my back and right below my boobs. I've also been waking up super early for no reason at all.

Baby Wood Update- Week 23

This week...

This week was AMAZING!! So much happened.

The BEST part....I finally felt the baby move. I felt a couple kicks on the outside but I am feeling her move around a lot in the inside. Nick felt her a little bit but I think she needs to get a little bit bigger for him to really get a sense of movement. Earlier in the week my mom felt her. It wasn't a kick but a movement like she was moving her bum. She is really active at night when I am sitting or laying down. Those little moments make everything feel so real. This little miracle is ours!!

We FINALLY decided on a name!!! I love it!! We still call her "baby" most of the time since we are trying to keep it a secret but any chance we get practice saying it.

I found out about my shower this week. I can't wait!!! My mom and crew are keeping most of it a secret which is killing me BUT I actually think it is making me more excited waiting for the surprise of it all. On top of that...my sister found out she is going to be able to fly home for it!!

Nick and I purchased the nursery furniture at a store called the Baby Supermart. I thought it was such a hard decision. We went with a white (snowdrift) finish and got a crib and double dresser. Thank goodness we went this weekend because it's not suppose to be in until the end of December. (More to come on the nursery progress...)

If that wasn't enough...this week I put in all of my paperwork for maternity leave. Nick and I decided our best move was for me to take the rest of the school year and return in September. I will be home February 10th (unless she comes earlier) to the last week of August. Money-wise we aren't losing much and we feel it is going to be the best thing for the baby and my sanity.

Total weight gain: 136 lbs (gained 16 lbs)
Maternity clothes? Yes and comfort is becoming a theme of my outfits.
Stretch marks? No stretch marks. I am starting to see these teeny tiny little purple veins above my belly button. I hope they don't grow too much!!
Belly Button: It's still an innie but it is stretching and very shallow. I can see the inside of my belly button when I look in the mirror.
Sleep: Sleeping is still a night by night thing. Some nights are great and some are full of tossing and turning.I really think I need to get a REAL pregnancy pillow. I have a body pillow but it doesn't form a way that is comfortable. I use it most of the time for support to lay on my side.
Miss anything: Back to wishing I could have a Caesar salad. I also miss being able to breath and move without ache and pains.
Food cravings: Nothing really this week.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing...Feeling good.
Labor signs: NO!!
Wedding rings on/off: On
Mood: Feeling good!!!!!
Looking forward to: (a.) Breastfeeding class (November) (b.) Starting the baby's room. (c.) Baby shower
Fun Facts:

  • Baby Wood is the size of a grapefruit.
  • She is about 11.8 inches long and 12.7 to 20.8 ounces.
  • She is forming nipples.
  • Her face is fully formed now- she just needs a little more fat to fill it out.
  • She is listening to mommy's voice and heartbeat- and even loud sounds like cars honking and dogs barking.

Baby Wood Update- Week 22

Monthly Appointment....I had my monthly quick check this week. My belly measure right on track and baby's heartbeat was 140 bpm. I was a little worried about her heartbeat going down but the doctor said the baby's heartbeat lowers as it gets bigger. Staying between 120-150 is completely normal. Not really feeling the doctor. Crossing my fingers I like the other doctors!!!!

Feeling Baby...When we went to our anatomy ultrasound I found out I have an anterior placenta. This is completely normal however it creates a cushion and makes it hard to feel the baby. I have felt the baby but not consistently like most people have by 22 weeks. It started out with gurgles and this week, each evening, I have felt a fish swimming in my belly. Can't wait for some good kicks.

Maternity Leave...On Friday, I had my meeting with work's Human Resource department. I was given four different dates that are possibilities so Nick and I are in the process of making some BIG decisions. I can come back after 6 weeks, after FMLA is up (May 15), at the beginning of September school year, or stay out until January 2015.

Names...Nick and I have a list of names we have been creating for years. We are down to two we really LOVE but can't seem to make that final decision. Well, I think Nick knows but I can't seem to make the final choice. What we do know is that we want to keep it to ourselves until she is born. The one thing I have learned with pregnancy is that everyone has an opinion even when it hurts your feelings.

Total weight gain: 134 lbs (gained 14 lbs)
Maternity clothes? Picked up some fall/winter clothes this week.
Stretch marks? No stretch marks
Belly Button: Getting pretty shallow but still an innie.
Sleep: Sleeping has been up and down. Most of the time I sleep great but have trouble finding the most comfortable spot.
Best moment this week: Hearing her heartbeat: 140 bpm. : )
Miss anything: Not really
Food cravings: Just like every other week I am loving my sweets...brownies, cookies, and ice cream. Love going to Ruby's Diner and having a yummy cheeseburger and fries.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing...Feeling good - I need to be careful when I take my prenatal vitamin. Without food I have felt extremely sick.
Labor signs: NO!!
Wedding rings on/off: On
Mood: Feeling good!!!!!
Looking forward to: (a.) Breastfeeding class (November) (b.) Starting the baby's room. (c.) Baby shower
Fun Facts:

  • Baby Wood is the size of a papaya.
  • She is about 11.8 inches and 1 pound.
  • Eyes and lips are more developed.
  • She sleeps 12-14 hours per day.

I think I am pretty set on a few things...

purple & gray
elephants
white furniture
chevron

Here are a few pictures of inspiration...

Anatomy Scan

WELLLL....THE MOMENT WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR...

On September 23rd, Nick and I had the best appointment. Nick and I celebrated like any classy couple would....with a delicious lunch together at Chic-Fil-a. After lunch, we headed to the hospital. Our appointment was at 1:45 but we were able to go in a little early.

The ultrasound tech went through each piece of the baby's anatomy. I can't believe how clear everything was. It was amazing. Heart, legs, arms, hands, feet, brain, chambers of the heart, eyes, nose, spine...Baby's heartbeat was 142 beats per minute.: )

The baby was breech and after only a few seconds of laying on the table the tech was asking if we wanted to know the sex....It's a girl!!! Once she reviewed the body parts she showed us how she knew it was a girl. Between the legs, there are three little white line...this is the labia.

This little girl is feisty. She loves to move but always in the opposite direction. When it came time to get a profile of the her little face I literally did everything except jumping jacks. BUT....black and white, fuzzy, and teeny tiny ....she is BEAUTIFUL!!!

At the end of the our appointment the perinatologist reviewed our scans and came in to go over what he saw. He said there were no visible physical problems. (Thank the Lord!!) The baby looks great!! He also confirmed that it is a little lady.

Here are a few pictures from this incredible day!!!
